Romanta Safety Tips
Your safety is our priority, both online and offline. While we work to create a secure environment, you are your own best advocate. Please follow these essential safety tips.
BEFORE YOU CONNECT ONLINE:
- Protect Your Financial and Personal Information: Never share your social security number, credit card details, home or work address, or other sensitive information with someone you've met online, even if they claim an emergency.
- Stay on the Platform: Keep conversations within the Romanta app. Bad actors often try to move conversations to text, email, or other platforms quickly to avoid detection and our safety systems.
- Do Your Own Research: Conduct your own due diligence. A quick search of a person's name, phone number, or images can sometimes reveal red flags. Trust your instincts.
- Report Suspicious Behavior: If someone asks you for money, acts evasively, or makes you feel uncomfortable, stop communicating and report them to us immediately using the in-app tools.
ATTENDING EVENTS LISTED ON ROMANTA:
Romanta features events hosted by third-party organizers and community members. Your safety at these events is your responsibility. We are not affiliated with these organizers and do not vet their events.
- Research the Organizer: Before attending, look up the event organizer independently. Check their reviews, website, and social media presence.
- Verify Directly: Confirm all event details—date, time, exact address, ticket price, and refund policy—by contacting the organizer through their official channels, not just through a Romanta listing.
- Meet in Public: If you're meeting someone from Romanta at a third-party event, arrange to meet in a public area outside the venue first.
- Have an Exit Plan: Know how you will get home. Keep enough money for a taxi or ride-share.
- Romanta is Not Responsible: Remember, Romanta is a listing platform for these events. We are not responsible for changes, cancellations, safety issues, or disputes between you and the event organizer.
BEFORE MEETING IN PERSON:
- Get to Know Them First: Use video calls within the Romanta app to verify the person is who they claim to be before meeting.
- Meet in Public, Stay in Public: For the first several meetings, choose a busy, public place like a café, restaurant, or park. Do not agree to be picked up at your home or go to your date's private residence.
- Tell a Friend: Always inform a friend or family member of your plans. Share your date's name, photo, and where you're going. Arrange to check in with your friend during and after the date.
- Be in Control of Your Transportation: Drive yourself or use a ride-share service. This ensures you can leave whenever you wish and that your date does not know your address early on.
- Stay Sober: Be mindful of your alcohol consumption or avoid it entirely. Keep your drink in sight at all times.
DURING THE DATE:
- Keep Your Phone Charged and Handy.
- Trust Your Gut: If you feel uneasy for any reason, it's okay to end the date early. You do not owe anyone your time. A simple, "I need to leave, thank you for meeting me" is sufficient.
- Do Not Leave Personal Belongings Unattended.
A SPECIAL NOTE FOR MATCHING PATH MEMBERS:
While your matches are curated and vetted through an interview process, these safety rules are equally important. A professional vetting is not a background check and does not guarantee anyone's character or intentions. You must still exercise all the same precautions outlined above.
EMERGENCY RESOURCES:
If you feel you are in immediate danger, call 911 (or the relevant emergency number in your country).
We want your journey on Romanta to be safe and positive. By taking these precautions, you take control of your own experience. Happy and safe dating!
