Romanta Dating ("Romanta," "we," "us," or "our") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our Services through romantadating.com, our mobile application, or any related services (collectively, the "Services"). This policy applies to both our Dating Path and Matching Path services.

By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

2a. Information You Provide to Us
  • Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, sexual orientation, relationship interests, and password.
  • Profile Information: Photos, biography, employment, education, location, interests, values, lifestyle information, and responses to personality questions.
  • Matchmaking Path-Specific Information: For the Matching Path, we collect additional sensitive information during your professional interview, which may include detailed relationship history, specific partner preferences, personal values, and other information you voluntarily share with your matchmaker.
  • Communication Information: Messages you send and receive through our Services, including chat logs, voice notes (if applicable), and video call metadata.
  • Payment Information: When you make purchases directly through Romanta, our payment processor (e.g., Stripe) collects your payment card details or other financial information. We only receive confirmation of payment and your billing address. When purchasing through external services (Apple App Store, Google Play Store), those platforms process payment.
  • Customer Support Information: Information you provide when you contact our support team.
2b. Information We Collect Automatically
  • Usage Data: How you interact with our Services (features used, time spent, pages viewed, clicks, search queries).
  • Device Information: IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, unique device identifiers, mobile network information.
  • Location Data: Approximate location derived from your IP address or, if you grant permission, precise GPS location to show you potential matches nearby.

2c. Information from Third Parties
  • Social Media: If you connect your social media account, we may collect information from that platform per your permissions.
  • Other Users: Other users may provide information about you (e.g., when reporting a concern).
  • Background Information (Matching Path Only): With your explicit consent as part of the matchmaking application, we may use third-party services to verify certain information you have provided.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create, maintain, and personalize your account and profile.
  • Provide, maintain, and improve our Services, including algorithmic matching and AI-powered features.
  • For the Matching Path, to conduct your interview, assess compatibility, and provide personalized matchmaking services.
  • Facilitate communication between users.
  • Process transactions and send related information (confirmations, invoices).
  • Communicate with you about products, services, offers, promotions, and events.
  • Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities.
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions, abuse, security incidents, and other harmful activity.
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect the rights, property, or safety of Romanta, our users, or the public.

4. HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION

4a. With Other Users
  • Dating Path: Your profile information (photos, bio, interests) is visible to other users according to your privacy settings. Your exact location is never shared; only an approximate distance is shown.
  • Matching Path: Your profile and the sensitive information you share with your matchmaker are treated with utmost confidentiality. Your matchmaker will only share essential, non-sensitive compatibility details with potential matches and will never disclose your identity or contact information without your explicit prior consent for each introduction.
4b. With Service Providers

We share information with vendors who perform services on our behalf (hosting, analytics, payment processing, customer support, marketing). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.

4c. For Legal Reasons

We may disclose information if we believe it's necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights, or in connection with an investigation of fraud or other illegal activity.

4d. Business Transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that deal. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control.

5. AI AND MACHINE LEARNING

Romanta uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to power features like profile suggestions, coaching tips, and compatibility analysis. To train and improve these AI systems, we analyze aggregated and anonymized user data and interaction patterns.

Note: We do not use the sensitive interview data from the Matching Path to train general AI models without your explicit, separate consent.

Your use of AI features is governed by our Terms of Use.

6. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES

  • Access and Update: You can review and update your account information in your profile settings.
  • Deletion: You can delete your account in your settings. This initiates a process to delete or anonymize your personal information, except where we are required to retain it by law or for legitimate business purposes.
  • Opt-Out of Marketing: You can opt out of promotional emails via the "unsubscribe" link.
  • Location Permissions: You can control app location permissions through your device settings.
  • California Privacy Rights: California residents have specific rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and opt-out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. See our California Privacy Notice for details.

7. DATA SECURITY

We implement administrative, technical, and physical security measures designed to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

8. DATA RETENTION

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. After account deletion, we retain certain information for legitimate business or legal purposes (e.g., transaction records, safety investigations) for a limited period before secure deletion or anonymization. We retain transaction records for 7 years for tax purposes. Deleted profile data is purged from active systems within 90 days but may persist in backups for up to 1 year. Matching Path interview notes are retained for a longer period to facilitate continued service but are stored with heightened security and access controls.

9. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

We are based in the United States. If you are located outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ.

10. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Our Services are for users 18+. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it.

11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy. The "Effective Date" at the top indicates when it was last revised. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice in our Services.
